 Happy New Year!!

Hey 78ers -Unfortunately the demands of work (big meeting Sept 13-14) will keep me from joining our youthful group in Deadwood. Have one for me (yep, still Bud) and somebody please yell "Buhler" really loud when he first walks in the door.- Derek

Wow, I\'ts been awhile since I\'ve seen or heard from any classmates. I\'m looking forward to seeing alot of you in Deadwood. Chip says to find a team for golf. Can I interest three people to play a round and catch up?

comment by Kerry (Johnson) Bowers

Updated information for the September get-together can be found on the Deadwood page. Also, there is a new album set up on the Photo Album page titled "50th Birthday Celebrations" for any of you who would like to share a little bit of your special day, week, month or year.

A startling revelation from infrequent site monitoring is learning the heartbreaking news about Kelly. Incurably sweet, disarmingly attractive, and always willing to help a classmate. Subtly setting example by making life look easy. I loved those congenial moments when we crossed paths, and delight in knowing someone so endearing in character.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Golly Chippy....I appreciate all your support and I want you to know I am a huge supporter of the humane society.  You hang in there now and for God\'s sakes stay off the roads...especially around dusk.

comment by Rod Hanson

Donni Gordon..Fosters????...last I heard ,you were NOTsupposed to drink because the estrigen meds would have a neg. reaction to your sex change in Oct. Either way, we all support you at this time.See you in Deadwood, DonniJeez,I hope I got that "security" code right since it\'s one inch below my type.

DUH !!! I finally figured this out...on my own(almost)thanks Kerry. If I had kids they could have saved me 3 hours of attempted messages. As you\'re aware..I did not take typing at Riggs..would have been very unfair to the teacher, whoever that was. Here is a brief AND tentative schedule on the golf at Deadwood.Fri.11am-four tee times are reserved at the new course in Spearfish(8 miles from Deadwood).Sat.9am-seven tee times are reserved at Tomahawk (Deadwood /Lead)course.Pin prizes are abound for less adept.WHO\'S IN????  finally, whoever takes this golf thing seriously will receive knobbies and monkey bumps from everyone.I\'m sorry I missed the big one at Pierre, sounds like you young bucks and does (and you too Don Gordon) had a good time.NOW...we changed the policies in jr. high...we did it again in high school......so lets show those west river Deadwood people how a real group of gray haired,no haired,or colored haired people party.CHIPPY

Bill and I are coming back to visit July 4-8.  Will anyone be a Marso on the first Weds night in July?  If so we would like to catch up.  We will be camping out at Farm Island.  Unfortunatley we will not be able to go to Deadwood for the birthday bash later this year.  Hope to see you at Marso\'s!Anne

Check this out - way to go Brent!!! A Hughes County rancher and his family have been honored for their years of hard work. Brent Pries was named as the 2009 outstanding farmer and rancher by the Pierre Agri-Interest Committee. The award was presented during the committee’s annual Ag Appreciation Banquet Saturday night.

Thanks reunion comittee it was soooo fun. I loved seeing everyone and we all look so gooood!!!  I can't say enough about the fun- thanks.  Also, who would believe we could stay up so late so many days in a row. We are so lucky to have so many awesome friends, can't wait for the next one, the sooner the better.  Love you all.

comment by Karen Likness Orcutt

Once again thank you to the reunion organizers. The weekend was amazing and more fun than I could have ever imagined.Thank you to all who traveled such distances. I've been sending emails to those of you I did get to visit with, and to those of you I missed I wish you well and thank you for coming. As I had written to others, it took me a few days to figure out why the reunion was so great. Everyone was genuinely glad to see one another, reconnect & talk about family, friendships and memories. No one talked about personal accomplishments, acquisitions,or accumulation. All that matters is the health and well being of family, friends and those we love. To the classmates who haven't posted on the classmate page yet, please do. It's easy and pretty painless except perhaps for the "then" picture, which is optional. Here's to you class of '78!!

comment by Kerry Johnson Bowers

Check out the photos from the 35th Reunion! If you took any that you would like to share please upload here or on the Class of '78 Facebook page!

Merry Christmas Classmates!!! I hope every one of you has a very Happy New Year and that only good things come your way!

comment by Craig Olivier

I havn"t seen any updates for a while. Any word on Mike's son? I hope all is well.  I found out I"m not as tough as I used to be. On the 18th of July I was involved in a 4-wheeler accident and ended up with a broken pelvis. So I am laid up for 6 weeks. It could have been a lot worse, I will heal, it will just take time. I am looking forward to Deadwood next fall! Deadwood is one of our favorite vacation spots.  Take care all, Craig

comment by Randy Sugrue

That was well worth the wait!  I can't stand to have that much fun too often at my age,, but I'm willing to risk it again sometime soon.  Thanks for all your time and hard work Reunion Commitee!

comment by Dan Sahr

I encourage all 78ers to continue to use this web site as a communication mechanism with our classmates. Let anyone know we've got the web site for at least another 5 years.  Let's all make an effort to keep in touch somehow.

I have another request - I am putting together a list of our birthdates.  We are ALL Turning "50" either this year or next.  If you have not sent me your birthdate, or if you know of other classmates birthdates, please e-mail them to me.  Thanks Connie

Hey, all.  I was talking to Susan the other night and we came up with a brilliant idea:-)  Wonder how many would be interested in getting together at Bob's the first Wednesday night of each month to chat, have a toddy, catch up, etc.  Susan, I know we talked the Legion, but they have meetings that night.  If someone has any thoughts, ideas, etc. go ahead and throw them out.  I'll plan on being at Bob's on the 1st (how appropriate that our first one would be April Fool's Day:-)) at 5:30.  Hope to see some of you then!

Hi everybody! Anyone remember Mr. Hisek? Looks like he is getting into the SD Sports Hall o' Fame.http://www.argusleader.com/article/20090329/SPORTS/903290316/-1/pollresultshere is a link to the story about him...Deadwood at 50? sounds great to me!

comment by Dan Sahr

78ers,  we should get together and discuss what Tim R. has put together for the turning 50 party.   I will be in Pierre on Monday,  April 13.  We could meet at the Legion at 7pm to finalize the "turning 50 " party stuff.  Please attend this meeting if anyonecan.  Dan

Kudos to the Committee for a wonderful job at preparing a wonderful, fun-filled reunion for us.  It was such a blast seeing everyone, catching up and laughing, laughing, laughing!  I don't know about anyone else, but my sides hurt for days:-)  It was great catching up and it's been awesome hearing from those who have e-mailed since.  I'm all for Deadwood for our 50th!!  I think we should organize a poker run for it and do some sight-seeing of the Hills while we're there.  I know we have some riders and some with vintage autos, so it would be a kick to do something like that.  If help is needed with anything, I'm here and would be more than willing, just holler!!  Hope that all of the 'out of towners' will get ahold of us 'home bodies' when they get to town - anytime - so that we can get together.  Thanks, again, to all who did so much to make this such a memorable event!

comment by michael b. martinson

Thanks for sharing all the pictures. Really wanted to attend but too many obstacles at this time. You all take care.

comment by Derek Hazeltine

Rock on, you old goats!

comment by Don Gordon

I have never laughed as much as I did during the reunion...ever!  Great to see everyone and I do hope we do something for the 35th.  For the people from out of town, be sure to let some of us in-towners know when you will be here so we we can hook up occationally.  Also, maybe when the 79ers have their reunion next summer some of will be able to get together also.  Lastly I want to congratulate Pat Doyle on his derby win.  Sorry Scott and Larry.

comment by Connie Eisenbeisz Nold

A lot of you are signing the Guest Book, but forgetting the Classmate Page for your profile.  That is the best part of the web site, so we can get all the juicy details of your life!Ha!  Try to complete the Profile, it is fun to see what everyone is up to, how many children, grandkids, travels, or what your job is.  Thanks

comment by Connie Eisenbeisz (Nold)

Just a Reminder - almost a month away for the big event, anyone wishing to pay for the Reunion, Golf, Cart etc... before & save a little money, and time for committee workers, send your check to me at PO Box 952, Ft Pierre SD 57532 % Class of '78.  It will help committee money takers a lot if payments are made in advance, and we'll see you all soon. Update on the "We turned 50 reunion."As of now I have 3 bids coming from establishments in Deadwood for this gathering.  The dates I have requested are either September 10-12, 2010 or October 1-3, 2010.  I estimated that we would have between 75 and 100 in attendance, including spouses, signficant others or who ever else some of you may want to drag along. What I have been requesting is a Friday mixer, Saturday night dinner and sleeping rooms.  I want those who attend to be able to park thier vehicles upon arrival and not have to drive again until they leave for home, and still have access to Main street Deadwood.Bids so far are coming from the Deadwood Lodge, which is the new convention center that will open in the fall of 2009, the Lucky Nugget, which was recently purchased by a developer and being remodeled to handle conventions, and the Franklin Hotel. As soon as I recieve all the bids and prices, I will have them posted on the web page and also try and send them out via email.  The dates I have suggested are based on events going on in Deadwood, being out of the main tourist season and potential weather problems.Anyone have additional suggestions, let me know.  Thanks.

New photos added today but you\'re gonna have to search for them.  I did some rearranging.  Still expecting more...  How long is it until the next get-together???
