Well, looks like winter has knocked on our door.  We are doing well here in Pennsylvania, just wish it was not so far to South Dakota.  Hoping to get some health issues from Iraq worked out and make it home more often.  What about a winter trip to Deadwood, instead of golf, we do a little skiing? December, January, or February should work just fine. If too cold, maybe a few drinks, poker among friends, catch up, new stories.  What do you all think?

For those of you interested, we are talking about another get together.  Many suggestions have been brought up.  Deadwood get away every three yrs? Or a reunion in another location 2 yrs after our 35th reunion?  Lets hear ideas and hopefully put together another successful reunion.

I\'m gonna type this real slow since I know you can\'t read this real fast.WOW what a blast. So much happened so fast(at least to me) I\'m still laughing. To those who weren\'t there.....Don Gordon went into the men\'s room at the #10 Saloon and out walked anchorman Ron Burgandy in his place(it\'s11pm Fri )and commenced to dance with everyone in the place except me and Doyle.
While playing my fave slot machine I saw a few classmates hammering the same machine and it was paying out pretty good so I went over there and it was the ATM. I still can\'t talk right.
Ron Burgandy...are you ok???can\'t believe you didn\'t have a H attack.

Deadwood was so much fun!  My jaws are aching from laughing and my legs are aching from climbing Mt Moriah. (Thanks for putting up with my whining and bitching, Beth and Susan. I promise I will be in better shape next time.)  Everyone looked great (for a bunch of 44 year olds anyway)!  We have pictures to prove it!  Hope everyone made it home safe and sound.  Can\'t wait for our next adventure!  Deadwood will never be the same.

Depending on the weather situations, I still plan to be at the Elkhorn Ridge
Golf Club, Spearfish at 1:00 PM
Mtn. Time, if still raining at 3:00, then I\'ll have a cuppacino or something & head to Deadwood a little later.

See You All Soon!  We will miss all of the classmates of 78, that because of other priorities you are unable to attend.
Hope you had a Great 50th Birthday!

Thank You,

GOLF UPDATE
There\'s very little interest in the golf thing so I\'m suggesting that whoever wants to play.....just show up. So far just one team on Fri., but Sat. may be different.I\'m thinking that on Fri. night during cocktails we\'ll put a few teams together and work from there. The importance of this to have a good time...golf or not.So far it\'s Hanson,Clelland,Gordon,Doyle,Birdsall,Buhler,Nold,Laurie Schumacher,Mickelson,Furyk and Couples..

We will probably scrap the structured scramble type tourney and do the
A.two person best ball
B.cart vs. cart....or,
C.Skin\'s game.
Either way we all have fun.If anyone has a suggestion pleas let me know, otherwise we\'ll meet on Fri. night and figure it out.GOT THAT DONNI?? omg, lol, gfyycsmfi.

Unfortunately the demands of work (big meeting Sept 13-14) will keep me from joining our youthful group in Deadwood. Have one for me (yep, still Bud) and somebody please yell "Buhler" really loud when he first walks in the door.

DUH !!! I finally figured this out...on my own(almost)thanks Kerry. If I had kids they could have saved me 3 hours of attempted messages.

As you\'re aware..I did not take typing at Riggs..would have been very unfair to the teacher, whoever that was.

Here is a brief AND tentative schedule on the golf at Deadwood.
Fri.11am-four tee times are reserved at the new course in Spearfish(8 miles from Deadwood).
Sat.9am-seven tee times are reserved at Tomahawk (Deadwood /Lead)course.Pin prizes are abound for less adept.
WHO\'S IN????  finally, whoever takes this golf thing seriously will receive knobbies and monkey bumps from everyone.

I\'m sorry I missed the big one at Pierre, sounds like you young bucks and does (and you too Don Gordon) had a good time.
NOW...we changed the policies in jr. high...we did it again in high school......so lets show those west river Deadwood people how a real group of gray haired,no haired,or colored haired people party.

I found out I"m not as tough as I used to be. On the 18th of July I was involved in a 4-wheeler accident and ended up with a broken pelvis. So I am laid up for 6 weeks. It could have been a lot worse, I will heal, it will just take time.

I am looking forward to Deadwood next fall! Deadwood is one of our favorite vacation spots.
 Take care all, Craig

Deadwood update.

I have secured a block of rooms at the Franklin Hotel in Deadwood.  The room rate is $119.00 per night.  To reserve a room, contact the Franklin Hotel at 1-800-688-1876.  Rooms are blocked under "Pierre class of 78."

A mixer is planned for Friday night, September 10, 2010, at the Franklin.  A dinner is planned for Saturday night, September 11, at the Franklin.

I am looking into having some activities available for Saturday AM for those interested.  Some of these are golf at one of the local courses or one of several tours.

There are other hotels and motels in the area if you wish to stay elsewhere.  Most of the room rates are about the same as the Franklin.

More information is forthcoming and will be posted on the website.  If you have any questions, send me an email.

Spread the word around and lets have a great turn out!

Been awhile since I've been able to check in and it's nice to see folks are still checking in. If I'm ever back in Pierre for the 1st Wednesday of the month, I'll stop on down to Bob's and see what's up. Congrats to Tammy P as well! I wasn't aware of your honor and am very happy to see you be recognized. Glad to hear that we're still working on the 50th Bday bash in Deadwood. Not sure if Deadwood can handle this gang of classmates though!! :) Take care everyone!

Hey, all.  I was talking to Susan the other night and we came up with a brilliant idea:-)  Wonder how many would be interested in getting together at Bob's the first Wednesday night of each month to chat, have a toddy, catch up, etc.  Susan, I know we talked the Legion, but they have meetings that night.  If someone has any thoughts, ideas, etc. go ahead and throw them out.  I'll plan on being at Bob's on the 1st (how appropriate that our first one would be April Fool's Day:-)) at 5:30.  Hope to see some of you then!

Update on the "We turned 50 reunion."

As of now I have 3 bids coming from establishments in Deadwood for this gathering.  The dates I have requested are either September 10-12, 2010 or October 1-3, 2010.  I estimated that we would have between 75 and 100 in attendance, including spouses, signficant others or who ever else some of you may want to drag along.

What I have been requesting is a Friday mixer, Saturday night dinner and sleeping rooms.  I want those who attend to be able to park thier vehicles upon arrival and not have to drive again until they leave for home, and still have access to Main street Deadwood.

Bids so far are coming from the Deadwood Lodge, which is the new convention center that will open in the fall of 2009, the Lucky Nugget, which was recently purchased by a developer and being remodeled to handle conventions, and the Franklin Hotel.

As soon as I recieve all the bids and prices, I will have them posted on the web page and also try and send them out via email.

The dates I have suggested are based on events going on in Deadwood, being out of the main tourist season and potential weather problems.

Anyone have additional suggestions, let me know.  Thanks.

Hey all!  I was actually Googling something for work, and this website came up.  So glad it's extended and we can keep in touch that way, at least.  Was great seeing everyone last summer, and I've even renewed contact with some old friends, so thanks!  The Deadwood idea sounds great, Greg's class (77) is actually doing that (or some of them anyway) this June, so we'll be out there for that.  Let me know on next year!

And congrats to Tammy P on the Hall of Fame - although I was sure it'd be ME!!!:)

A happy 2009 to all.  This past year was a memorable one with one of the highlights being our reunion.  Personally I have a lot to be thankful for during 2008 and it will be hard to top it in 2009, but I am going to try.  Some of our classmates have faced adversity this past year so I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers that 2009 will bring you success and happiness.

Tammy, we are all proud of you!  I will be at the induction ceremony giving you the standing ovation you deserve.  Will also slip in a few of our old cheers for old times sake.

The bench project is still in the process, although a little behind schedule.  I should be done by this spring.  A big thank you to all of those that contributed.

The big 5-0 reunion is still being planned for Deadwood in 2010.  I have some meetings coming up with the management of some of the hotels and resorts, then will put together a list of some room rates and availability of facilities.

Take care all and may 2009 bring you all the best!!

Finally had some time to check back and see how folks are doing.  It was very sad to read about Mike M's son, Isaac, but encouraging to see he is improving.  We're keeping you in our thoughts and prayers, Mike and Susie.

Will anyone be around for the Christmas weekend in Pierre?  I was thinking we should try to get together at Bob's on Saturday afternoon for a Holiday mini-reunion?  Anyone else interested???

Mike Martinson's son is slowly recovering and boy what a long road it's been for he and Susie. On a bright note his son even had a visit by Will Smith. Here's the latest update : 11-30-2008 2121 Isaac has been sleeping better at night. He even manages a nap during the day like his Dad. Isaac does wake a couple times during the night, usually when he needs suctioning. Isaac does seem to be tolerating his PT/OT sessions a little better. Today he managed almost ten minutes on the tilt table in the near upright position. Isaac does a lot of grimmacing during his session and looks like he gets pretty unconfortable. I am sure it is not easy after spending 9 weeks almost entirely on his back. Isaac is making some small vocal noises on occasion. The rehab doc is confident that Isaac's trach could be capped soon so all his breathing will be through his nose and mouth. When that occurs, speech therapy can start the process of teaching Isaac to talk. The weaning process continues with Isaac's meds. Two of the anti-histamines are gone. The methadone and ativan are getting closer to being history. Susie and I are anxious to see if Isaac's wakefullness will improve with fewer meds on board. Susie and I are aware this rehab process is in the early stages but the progress sure tests our patience. We keep telling ourselves that all the complications have delayed progress and everyone is different in the rate of healing. A look in the eye with a smile or nod from Isaac would go a long way in reaffirming our hopes. Some day that will happen. We are greatfull for all the support and prayers. Love, Mike

It's been a long road for Mike's son, here's the latest update: 11-7-2008 1900 Isaac had his usual day full of activities, all without his ventilator on. The plan for is to see how he does without the ventilator tonight. No major or minor improvements, and thankfully no set backs. Isaac did have a couple of bouts of emesis. Docs think the Amoxicillin may be causing the barfs. So a different antibiotic has been ordered. Sad news is that Isaac's favorite stuffed animal is lost. A small beanbag style suede mouse he named Cheedar is missing and may have gone to the laundry or the trash. The pediatric resident, Heather, Susie and our friend Don are on a mission to find Cheddar or a replacement. I am anxious to hear and share how Isaac did during the night. Love, Mike. 11-8-2008 0902 Say good-bye to the ventilator(hopefully). Isaac has been off the ventilator since yesterday. He did require a small amount of supplimental oxygen starting last evening due to some sagging oxygen saturations and an increased heart rate. After the extra O2 his sats jumped to the high 90's and his heart rate dropped 20 bpm. Another busy day is planned with speech therapy working with him twice a day now. Respiratory therapy is still doing their percussion to mobilize his mucus to help keep his lungs clear. As you can tell our good friend Don found a replacement "Cheddar" for Isaac last night. Funny how just a little bean bag animal means so much. Thank you Don and Karen. I will post more later when Susie gives me the update. Thanks again for all the wonderful responses. Some of you could make a living from your poetic and eloquent words of support and comfort. Love, Mike.

In case anyone is still following this siteI thought I'd let you know that Mike Martinson's son was hit by a car while riding his bike on Sept. 28th. I'll cut and paste what all has happened: 9-28-08 At 10:30 AM Isaac was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike with his friend. Ambulance arrived quickly, and Isaac was taken to the Ogallala Community Hospital within minutes of the accident, and after that was flown to The Children's Hospital, in Denver. He has suffered severe head trauma, and a broken clavicle and 2 broken ribs, along with many other bruises and scrapes. All of his teeth are intact, and there isn't any serious damage to his nose or ears. His right eye suffered a few lacerations on his eyelid, but that was taken care of. We've mainly been working on relieving the pressure in his cranium, as that is our main concern. 8/8/2008 Isaac had a fair to good night. Susie and I were happy to see ICPs down to 11-12 last evening. However during the night Isaac had a BM and became aggitated during the clean up process and his ICPs spiked and have remained 15-16. To Susie and I this seems like a half step back. Although areas of progress include functioning intestines, decreasing edema and a little smaller abdomen. Most all other systems appear stable. The plan for today includes trying to get a new bed that rotates from side to side to prevent skin break down. So far another day of rest is planned in attemps to bring that ICP down. Susie and I are trying to keep positive and our hopes up. At times this is hard. We appreciate hearing the success stories of kids in similar situations that are walking and talking. Hopefully that will be Isaac's story. Take care out there and if we know anything after docs make rounds we will be sure update. For updates you can log into: http://www.carepages.com/login patient name: isaacjames Mike's email: yada@charter.net Please keep Issak, Mike and Susie in your thoughts and prayers

Kudos to the Committee for a wonderful job at preparing a wonderful, fun-filled reunion for us.  It was such a blast seeing everyone, catching up and laughing, laughing, laughing!  I don't know about anyone else, but my sides hurt for days:-)  It was great catching up and it's been awesome hearing from those who have e-mailed since.  I'm all for Deadwood for our 50th!!  I think we should organize a poker run for it and do some sight-seeing of the Hills while we're there.  I know we have some riders and some with vintage autos, so it would be a kick to do something like that.  If help is needed with anything, I'm here and would be more than willing, just holler!!  Hope that all of the 'out of towners' will get ahold of us 'home bodies' when they get to town - anytime - so that we can get together.  Thanks, again, to all who did so much to make this such a memorable event!

Once again thank you to the reunion organizers. The weekend was amazing and more fun than I could have ever imagined.Thank you to all who traveled such distances. I've been sending emails to those of you I did get to visit with, and to those of you I missed I wish you well and thank you for coming. As I had written to others, it took me a few days to figure out why the reunion was so great. Everyone was genuinely glad to see one another, reconnect & talk about family, friendships and memories. No one talked about personal accomplishments, acquisitions,or accumulation. All that matters is the health and well being of family, friends and those we love.
To the classmates who haven't posted on the classmate page yet, please do. It's easy and pretty painless except perhaps for the "then" picture, which is optional. Here's to you class of '78!!

the neo-johnsons are playing at sioux falls Jonnos (sp) over mother's day weekend. Anyone from here going to be there? (that is dan sahr's, david gates band). How about, is anyone going to Monk's coffee/brewery shop in SF 5/21 for their 'wine fest" (only $30/person)

A lot of you are signing the Guest Book, but forgetting the Classmate Page for your profile.  That is the best part of the web site, so we can get all the juicy details of your life!
Ha!  Try to complete the Profile, it is fun to see what everyone is up to, how many children, grandkids, travels, or what your job is.  Thanks

I just got back from Sioux Falls from our 14th annual "Women's Weekend" with Pam Bonrud, Kerry Johnson Bowers and Deb Jundt Bakeberg("77), and we were talking about the reunion.  I can't wait!!  Oh, and Craig...do you have any Schmidt "Big Mouth"?

The pictures are great.  I will try to dig some up and get them scanned.  I am hoping to make it to some/all of the reunion.  See you there.
Thanks to the organizers.

Wow - every time I come back to check things out, the website changes - and looks great.  It's been so much fun reading the bios and seeing the photos.  Man, we look good - don't we?  :)

It was great seeing the photos.  I am so glad that somebody is tech saavy enough to figure that out because I'm not.  I'm still trying to work out the details but hopefully will see everyone this summer!

Each time I run into Doreen Wagner at the ball fields or school events (yes, we ended up in the same town in San Diego County!), she asks if I'm going back for the reunion.  Sorry to say, I don't think so.  Sounds like a lot of fun and I've really enjoyed reading the profiles and viewing the photos!  Enjoy!

Hi everyone!  I'm very excited to make the 30th, I hope everyone is wearing name tags cause I'm sure I won't recognize alot of you.  I haven't been to Pierre since 1986 so not sure if the loop is even the loop anymore, but can't wait to see it all and to catch up on what everyone's been doing for the past 30 yrs.  It really is true, once your out of high school the years just fly by.  See you all in July!!!

Greetings to all.  We need pictures!  Go through those old shoe boxes, photo albums, filing cabinets or where ever you store them and find pictures from our high school days.  Scan them and send or mail them to someone.  We want to do a power point and put it on disc for the reunion.  Hopefully have something for everyone to take home.

Looking forward to a trip back to Pierre and seeing everyone again.  I can't believe that it has already been 30 years!!  Luckily the class of 78 doesn't age as quickly as others ha ha..  Thanks to everyone who is putting in their time to make this reunion happen!

Well, Finally some breathing room - The Committe has most of the arrangments made.  We appologize for the delay, we had to start from scratch on addresses, married names, & even remembering our own names!   My next goal is to add my profile, and Lionels' too.  It has been a great time organizing with the Pierre/Ft Pierre Classmates.  Thanks to all of you!   Anyone wishing to bring a boat for the occassion, and you don't mind the gas prices, Great - Although we should have plenty of River Toys.  See you Soon

It is so fun to read about everyone!  If I get my act together and get my kids to help me I'll try to fill you all in about my past 30 years.  Technology isn't one of my strengths and most of the time I feel and know that I am turning into my mother. As you all know my mother is a great person!!!

It's great to see pictures being added to the classmates page.  It would be nice for everyone to put a short bio on it regardless either you are attending reunion or not.  Now there's a challenge....
